NATURAL HAIR BRIDAL STYLES

So it's your big day!  Congratulations!  There are many different styles you can achieve with your natural hair for the most casual weddings to the most formal.  The key is that you feel fabulous!  After all, it's your day :)

I got the great idea to do a Natural Hair Bridal Series from my friends over at Iheartmyhair.com, be sure to check out their Natural Hair Bridal Guide for more great tips and tricks:

Bridal Style #1

This is a very classic take on the roll tuck and pin style.  I achieved this look by starting on blowdried hair.  I sectioned the hair in 4 parts horizontally and rolled and pinned each section.  For the front piece I pinned it in a swoop bang for an elegant look.  I accessorized with good old dollar store flowers :)  May as well save some pennies because they look just as nice pinned in than any expensive hairpiece.

Bridal Style #2

You can't really get more classic than the bun.  This is such an easy style to achieve.  It's simply a bun positioned slightly to the side with 4 loose twists pinned in the front.  I used a donut/sock bun to achieve my full bun but if you have thick long hair you can easily skip that part.  I loosely rolled 4 pieces in the front and pinned them back, covering them with you guessed it....a flower from the dollar store :)

Bridal Style #3

I couldn't have a natural hair bridal style series without a signature fro.  The key is that you want to feel fabulous on your day and if you feel fab in your fro then rock your fro girl!  I achieved this big fluffy fro with a blow out, used edge control for a sleek hairline and accessorized with an antiqued headband.

Eli's Body Shop - Natural Products

I've used a few products from this line over the last couple of years but I was recently gifted a full line of products including shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, oil and butter.  I was happy to try them out and see how the full line worked together.

The company provides organic beauty and wellness products for hair, scalp, face and body.  No synthetics, no chemicals.

I loved this shampoo when I first used it a couple years ago and was happy to see that nothing has changed.  My hair still loves it, it provides a soft creamy lather and really cleans my hair without stripping.  It is the only shampoo I've ever used where I did not feel the need to use a conditioner afterwards and the first time I used it I didn't! (see the proof here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3FJA8W-yng)

Ingredients:
ngredients: Plantain skin, cocoa pod, coconut oil, aqua, palm kernel oil, shea butter, olive oil, vegetable glycerine, castor oil, & chamomile..
The shampoo is about $20 a little pricey but I believe it's worth it because a little goes a long way, you only need about 4 or 5 pumps to product a nice sudsy lather.

My hair was fine without the use of conditioner and just as soft however they do also make an organic conditioner which I enjoyed equally as much.  I would recommend it as a cleansing conditioner for those who like to co-wash.  It contains black soap so it will leave your hair clean while conditioning and you don't have to worry about build-up.

The leave-in conditioner is a light lotion consistency and easily distributes throughout the hair.  It's has a pleasant soft citrusy scent that lingers.  Although it did soften my hair and I thoroughly enjoyed the scent, I have very fine light hair so I prefer a heavier leave-in to give my hair some weight.

The hair and scalp shea butter conditioner is probably my second favourite product in the line.  It's soft and creamy and very easy to apply.  A great hair conditioner and doubles as a natural heat protectant.  I felt an immediate difference in the elasticity in my hair.  Although it was gifted to me and I do love it, admittedly I wouldn't purchase it for $25.  The last time I purchased this product (with my own money) was at a natural hair show for $15 and I was happy at that price point.

Shea Oil protects the natural moisture barrier of the scalp, hair, face and body. Moisturizer for dry and itchy scalp, hair, face and body. Oil treatment for extensions, natural and synthetic hair. It detangles, softens, relaxes, soothes, nourishes and revitalizes the hair.

Ingredients: Shea oil, coconut oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, jojoba oil, & lemongrass.
