Not the best of occasions....

Today I will be attending the funeral of my 19 year old foster brother.  As heartbreaking as it is death is a part of life.....It's the only thing that's guaranteed.  That is why even though I was in no mood to record a youtube video I decided I would still post about it because one day, we will all inevitably have to get dressed and do our hair for a not so happy occasion....this was one of those days.

I was in no mood to deal with my hair so I decided to style my half wig 'Lajay' by the Vanessa Collection.  I purchased her from my local beauty supply store for 39.99, one of the best purchases I've ever made.  She's bailed me out of a lot of lazy and bad hair days. I did trim her a bit and I left the front of my hair out, parted it down the center and used Eco styler olive oil gel to lay it down.  It ended up taking on the look of a lace front with a realistic part...reminiscent of the popular wig 'Drew' by Beshe.

My outfit was dark and understated as funeral attire should be.  I added a bit of colour with my accessories.  I filled in my eyebrows but opted to skip any eye make up for obvious reasons.
short cap sleeve sweater - Urban Planet $5
 Pencil skirt - Sirens 19.99
Flower belt - Forever21 $4.80
Red Clutch - Conway $3.99

Floral peep toe shoes - Gojane.com $20

Depression is real.  It exists.......even in the black community.  If you or someone you know is suffering and feeling hopeless  please call the National Suicide Hotline 1-800-784-2433.  Let someone know your pain.

  4. This the part we don't often see on YouTube. The reality of life. Although death is part of life, it is still a loss all the same and I am sorry you lost someone so dear to you.

  5. I'm sorry about the death of your little brother. I could only imagine how painful this is for you and your family. It's true, when we are depressed we need to get help. There is no shame in needing help.

  6. For some reason we are raised as black people to be silent about pain we're feeling. I've always hated that fact about us. Depression is real and it does exist in the black community. I am so sorry for your loss. ((Hugs)) My prayers are with you and your family.

  7. Toni, you and your family and friends have my heartfelt sympathy and prayers. I know all too well about the horror and pain of depression firsthand. It is very sad that someone so young experienced such pain and hurt. May you and your family be blessed.
